Hi, I'm Tina, and I'm here with your one-minute management tip. Today, we're going to talk about improving communication in the office.
There are three habits in communication that we all need to not only learn but also practice. Usually, the first habit we do is complain about things. The second one, sometimes we do, is communicate to one another about who can help us solve it. The third one is learning to collaborate with your team and learning how to prevent things.
So remember: complaining changes nothing. Communication solves today's problems. And when you collaborate, it helps you prevent problems from happening again.
Here are three things to focus on:
Speak up early. Don't wait until you're frustrated. Express the problem early. The sooner we communicate, the smaller the problem stays.
Don't assume things. Make sure that you verify. If someone tells you something, that's hearsay. You want to verify what was actually said or if what they're talking about is actually true. Make sure everybody's on the same page and you understand what actually took place or what someone is trying to tell you.
Solve before you complain. If you've got a problem, do you have a solution? Before bringing up a problem, ask yourself: Did I try to communicate it? Did I try to solve it? Am I bringing a solution for the problem? That changes the whole conversation when you're having problems in the office.
If you have any questions, email me at [email protected]. I look forward to talking to you soon. Take care!
